On April 12, 2010, Minister Wan Gang of the Ministry of Science and Technology met with Mr. Gao Dewei, Chairman of the Honeywell Company of the United States. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening scientific and technological cooperation in the fields of energy conservation, emission reduction and new energy.
Minister Wan pointed out that the Chinese government attaches great importance to energy conservation and emission reduction and energy efficiency technologies as well as the development and utilization of new energy technologies. In recent years, a series of policies and regulations have been introduced to provide a good policy environment for the development of renewable energy and new energy in China. In addition, in response to the current international financial crisis and the development of strategic emerging industries, the Chinese government launched the “Ten Cities and Thousand Vehicles†electric vehicle demonstration operation, demonstration and promotion of various types of photovoltaic power generation technologies and products, “Golden Sun Demonstration Project†and promotion of semiconductor lighting. Minister Wan also briefed the guests on the Sino-US Joint Research Center for Clean Energy. He hoped that Honeywell actively participated in the Sino-US cooperation in the priority areas under the framework according to its business scope.
Mr. Gao Dewei introduced Honeywell's contribution in the field of energy conservation and new energy, and specifically proposed to further strengthen technical cooperation with China in the field of biomass energy.
