LG uses Enhanced Pixels for better VR tracking

The enhanced version of Pixels has developed a new method of navigation using computer vision capabilities, and LG Electronics announced that it has built the technology to assist 3D camera modules for automatic robots.

An enhanced Pixels-based company based in Palo Alto, Calif., called the new technology SLAM, or instant positioning and mapping, developed for use in the robotics, drone, AR, and VR fields.

This module can also be used for augmented reality and inbound tracking of virtual reality heads. This means that it can use the head-up camera to determine the position of the head.

Enhanced Pixels currently has the patent for the fastest SLAM for single and stereo cameras, as well as sensor fusion and technology for autonomous navigation (obstacle avoidance, point cloud semantics, etc.) on the market. Vitaliy Goncharuk, CEO of Enhanced Pixels, said: “All of our systems are hardware-independent, but our customers need a complete solution that combines computer vision software with hardware. Cooperation with LG Electronics enables us to provide The glasses and home robot market offers a very effective solution."

LG Electronics designed a compact module consisting of a stereo camera, IR and an onboard processor designed to optimize low-power high performance. It can be customized for different hardware platforms and use cases. Enhanced Pixels provides software for autonomous navigation (obstacle avoidance, point cloud semantics, etc.) based on its proprietary SLAM technology.

Yun Sup Shin, chief engineer at LG Electronics, said in a statement: “We are very excited to work with the enhanced Pixels to provide customers with the technology they need. A single module using our camera and SLAM technology is highly efficient in terms of performance and pricing. The solution meets the requirements of many robot makers and AR/VR system manufacturers and addresses the need to incorporate enhanced computer vision into the product. Our compact module has a processor, so all algorithms and software running can be Customers provide flexibility and eliminate many restrictions based on the limited computing power of consumer devices."
