Apple started to build three transceiver antennas in MacBook Pro and iMac that support high-speed Thunderbolt I / O transmission technology in 2011, which can provide 450Mbps connection rate through 5GHz 802.11ac network. The market was once rumored that Apple will adopt 802.11ac WiFi chips in 2012, but this rumor has not been realized.
Broadcom is one of the few manufacturers currently offering 802.11ac chipsets. Although some companies, including ASUS (2357), have introduced notebook computers that support the 802.11ac standard, this technology has not yet been popularized in the notebook market.
