It is reported that Renault Group, Dongfeng Renault Automobile Co., Ltd. and Wuhan Caidian Ecological Development Group jointly announced on December 17 that the three parties have jointly established an automatic driving demonstration zone in Wuhan.
The self-driving demonstration zone is located in the Sino-French Wuhan Ecological Demonstration City in Caidian District, west of Wuhan. An electric, Renault-ZOE-based autopilot prototype will begin autopilot testing and demonstration on a 2km section of Houguan Lake on December 17th for a two-year period. This will be China's first open autopilot demonstration zone, open to ordinary visitors, and people can participate in testing and experiencing Renault's self-driving vehicle.

Renault official said that "the future of the car lies in the development of electric, connected and self-driving vehicles", and will gradually introduce autonomous vehicles in the future, introducing "no need to use eyes / hands without hands" on affordable mainstream models (hands off, eyes Off) technology. This technology is designed to make roads safer, more enjoyable, and more accessible to people on the road.
In addition, after 2020, according to the new road traffic regulations of the world, Renault plans to equip its core series with “no need for eye†technology. This technology will first be used in the case of intensive traffic on the expressway, frequent start-stop, and then applied to more complex road conditions on the expressway. In the future, when conditions permit and regulations mature, drivers will be able to fully enjoy intelligent networked cars for better security and more free time.
