Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE ticker symbol: VSH) today introduced a new series of molded MICROTAN for space-constrained consumer electronics products of chip tantalum capacitors --- ^TL8?. This family of devices uses a high-capacity-efficiency package that offers the industry's highest low-profile 0805-size devices with a capacitance voltage rating of 0.8mm to 1.0mm.

Vishay Sprague TL8 capacitors are available in a variety of small EIA standard footprints including 0805 (2.0mm x 1.25mm), A profile (3.2mm x 1.60mm) and B profile (3.50mm x 2.80mm). The device features a high-capacity voltage rating of 3.3μF-35V to 220μF-4V, ±10% and ±20% capacity tolerance, operating temperature from -55°C to +85°C, or +125°C at voltage derating jobs.

Small form factor plus low height, TL8 capacitors can be used in next-generation ultra-thin smartphones and other handheld, battery-powered consumer electronics products, saving board space required for bulk capacitance, energy storage, filtering and decoupling. In addition, the device has a high voltage rating and is ideal for OLED displays.

The capacitors feature a lead-free L-type bottom termination that provides better mechanical and electrical contact with the pad than conventional bottom terminations. The device is RoHS compliant and meets Vishay 's "green" standard, with 8mm tape and EIA-481 reel packaging.

Samples of TL8 capacitors are available now and are in volume production. The lead time for major orders is ten weeks.
