The world's fastest supercomputer "Beijing" will be put into use at the end of September

According to a report from Japan’s Kyodo News Agency, the Japan Institute of Physical Chemistry announced on the 13th that the supercomputer “King” jointly developed with Fujitsu will be completed by the end of June and put into use from the end of September. "Beijing" is expected to play a role in disaster prevention fields such as earthquake and tsunami disaster prediction, as well as high-performance automotive R&D, pharmaceuticals and other industrial fields.

The Institute of Physical Chemistry positively recruits users from companies and experts. In the briefing session so far, business people accounted for about half of the participants. It can be seen that the industry has a strong interest in "King." The deadline for solicitation is 15 days.

The use of "King" is divided into "key use" and "general use" that are decided by the Japanese central government. In "general use", it is free to use as long as experts review and disclose the results. If the company is not willing to make public results, it must pay a fee for use.

The research and development work of “Beijing” was initiated under the leadership of the Japanese government in 2006. In 2011, it ranked first in the ranking of global supercomputer operation speed.
