Molex Introduces Vertical PCB Mounting Structure

Molex , the world's leading provider of complete interconnect products, has introduced the 2.4mm precision crimp mount test connector product, the industry's only high-speed vertical PCB mount structure for 50 GHz. Compared with the conventional connector terminal attached (end-launch connector), unique vertical PCB attachment structure is 2.4 mm precision test connector mounting crimp provides additional key advantages. These connectors have a small footprint and can be mounted anywhere on the PCB to increase density. In addition, the crimp mounting design eliminates the need for soldering and reduces installation time.

The crimp mounting design uses two 0-80 UNF screws so that the socket can be mounted directly to the PCB. The connector is also suitable for a wide range of board thicknesses from 0.57 to 2.79 mm and provides a continuous ground connection between the connector and the PCB. The crimp mount test connector can be mated to a 2.4 mm male (plug) connector for the customer's test equipment cable termination. The integrated center pin design allows for a 1.2:1 VSWR at 50 GHz and provides low reflection for accurate measurements. In addition, the stainless steel housing is capable of withstanding more than 500 matings.
