Alexander Dennis (ADL), the UK's largest bus and coach manufacturer, has announced that it will be equipped with the solutions provided by Internet-based telematics manufacturer Traffilog on the buses provided by the 2012 London Olympics. Kings Ferry, a well-known long-distance bus operator in the UK, also chose to install the Traffilog scheme to protect the convoy provided to police and VIPs during the Olympics.
Traffilog's machine-to-machine (M2M) solution improves passenger comfort, safety and vehicle efficiency, thus achieving the highest level of safety required for the Olympics. Through the most advanced technology and rich experience in global fleet management solutions, the Traffilog system enables passengers to have a more comfortable journey while determining their own safety.
During the Olympics, Trafficilog will provide fleet services with TrafficiSafe and TrafficiMech solutions. Among them, TraffiSafe can detect dangerous and inefficient driving behavior, while TraffiMech can instantly transmit vehicle information and detect any potential mechanical failures, and will also build other components specifically for the Olympics. Related solutions allow officials to monitor vehicles remotely whenever necessary.
The M2M device is equipped with Telit Wireless SoluTIons' GE863-GPS advanced module, which can wirelessly transmit driving and vehicle mechanical performance data to the fleet management center, and is authorized to control the vehicle remotely if necessary. GE863-GPS is a small GSM / GPRS module with a GPS receiver. It is the best solution for M2M applications such as vehicle-mounted telematics devices. In such devices, the total volume and height are key factors. These quad-band modules utilize ball grid array (BGA) technology to achieve the lowest cost by reducing the need for additional system connectors.
The Traffilog system can save fleet operators' costs by providing more efficient use of vehicles, reducing fuel consumption, and preventive maintenance of engines, while providing greater safety.
Traffilog's solution has been used in 26 countries around the world. Since its introduction in the UK in 2007, it has served many organizations including NaTIonal Express, Commercial Vehicle SoluTIons, Northern Ireland Water and Daniels UTIlities. In addition, the solution has also been adopted by Arriva Scandinavia, Arriva Italy, UPS, FedEx, Nestle, Danone, Cemex, Orange, etc.
Yoav Megged, Executive Vice President of Traffilog, said: "Telite's GE863-GPS module has become the most important part of our application system through high reliability, durability and high performance. This is also the basis of most of our systems worldwide. The cause of the Telit module. "
Dominikus Hierl, chief marketing officer of Telit Wireless Solutions, said: "Traffilog's application system for the London Olympics once again proves the importance and integration benefits of M2M technology, especially in the areas of public safety and personal safety."
