Dual channel active mixer meeting 3G / 4G requirements
In order to meet the needs of the new generation of 3G / 4G infrastructure for smaller size and higher performance, ADI launched the industry ’s first dual-channel broadband active mixer ADL5802, which is integrated with ADI ’s latest broadband integration of 3 VCOs. When combined with the ADF4350 digital synthesizer, it can provide a highly integrated dual-chip diversity down-conversion solution, suitable for WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, MC-GSM, LTE and WiMAX base stations, satellite communications, and point-to-point microwave radio equipment.
ADL5802 can provide high linearity and appropriate gain, and uses the smallest package in the industry. The ADL5802 dual-channel active mixer has an IIP3 (third-order input intermodulation intercept point) of 27dBm, a single-sideband noise figure of 11dB, a conversion power gain of 1.5dB, and a 4mm x 4mm LFCSP package. For high linearity applications, the ADL5802 consumes less than 1W under 5V power supply. The ADL5802 integrates a high linearity double-balanced active mixer core and a local oscillator (LO) buffer amplifier, which can provide a wide dynamic range frequency conversion from 10 MHz to 6 GHz. At the same time, it also has an offset adjustment feature, which can optimize the input linearity, single-sideband noise figure, and DC current through a single control pin.
Peter Real, vice president of RF and networking components at Analog Devices, emphasized: "ADL5802 is both the industry's first dual-channel active mixer and the industry's largest bandwidth mixer. Its adjustable mixer bias circuit allows customers Can achieve balanced performance and power consumption optimization, and its high integration design allows customers to save costs and space, and improve performance. "
Compared with ADL5802, ADL5801 is different in only two places: first, ADL5801 is a single channel high IP3 active mixer; second, ADL5801 integrates a detector.
If customers want to choose a passive mixer, then they can choose ADL5356, ADL5358 and ADL5360 dual-channel dedicated frequency band passive mixer. These passive mixers integrate an IF amplifier and RF (radio frequency) balun, IIP3 is 26 dBm, the single-sideband noise figure is less than 10 dB, and has an industry-leading 10 dBm blocking noise figure (16.5dB). The passive mixer with built-in IF amplifier can provide a conversion power gain of 8.5 dB to 9.5 dB, and is packaged in a small 6 mm × 6 mm LFCSP. The 5 V (rated) ADL5356, ADL5358, and ADL5360 can also be powered by a 3.3 V power supply to suit power-sensitive applications. Compared with other active devices and similar passive devices, they can provide higher gain.
