On December 31, Xinhuanet reported that the LED lighting fixtures independently developed by the Semiconductor Lighting Engineering R&D Center of Tianjin Polytechnic University saved more than 60% of electricity compared with ordinary lamps. At present, it has formed a production capacity of 300,000 high-end LED lighting products per year. The products have been applied in many demonstration projects in mainland China and exported to the United States, Europe, India and other places.
   Tianjin is the first city in China to join the Cree LED city plan. Tianjin University of Technology took the lead in realizing LED lighting renovation.
