Salt water LED lamp that can be charged and illuminated

More than 7,000 islands on the Philippine Islands still do not have access to electricity. So after the sun goes down, their only source is the kerosene lamp. Although it is very cheap, the strong smell of kerosene burning is not only unpleasant, but also harmful to human health. In order to solve the problems of these residents, the engineer and Greenpeace volunteer Aisa Mijeno thought about the idea of a salt water LED light. With only one glass of water and two teaspoons of salt, the equipment could be operated for eight hours.

Brine LED light

The operation of the brine LED lamp is the same as that of the ordinary battery, except that the brine is replaced by a pure electrolyte solution, and the positive and negative electrodes are also designed at both ends. Considering the abundant sea water resources around the Philippine Islands, this product is arguably the most suitable for environmentally friendly renewable energy.

Just like other ordinary batteries are charged, it is not always possible to use them. This product can only be used for eight hours after filling the seawater. After six months of continuous use, the electrodes at both ends are replaced.

According to the designer, this product produces ample power that not only provides illumination, but can even charge the smartphone through its USB port. At present, they plan to make 600 baht for the trial of the indigenous people on the island of the Philippines. After the improvement, they may be put into the market in early 2016.
