CEC: The national electricity gap will reach 40 million kilowatts in the fourth quarter of this year

According to China Voices "news and newspaper abstracts," the China Electricity Council predicts that the country's electricity shortage will reach 40 million kilowatts in the fourth quarter of this year, of which Central and South China will be the most serious.

Xue Jing, director of the Statistics Department of the China Electricity Council, said that the electricity shortages in Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Henan, Anhui, and Chongqing in the central China region are around 15 million kilowatts this winter, which is the biggest gap in history.

Xue Jing: Mainly from late December to January next year. The degree of tension is now greater than when we were in March or April this year.

Xue Jing pointed out that the main rivers in the South have suffered serious water losses this year, and the water and electricity gap is greater than in previous years.

Xue Jing: It did not save water during Fengshui, and it did not produce electricity in winter. This dryness is even more severe than last year, and the depletion of water and electricity has become the final conclusion. This aggravated our judgment.

In addition, the rise in coal prices and the shortage of electric coal are still important factors that restrict the production capacity of electric power companies.

Xue Jing: Our power company has suffered a monthly increase since the beginning of this year. This has led to the lack of any ability to buy coal, so I don't want to store coal.

The latest monitoring and warning information issued by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission also shows that, as of the 3rd of this month, there have been shutdowns due to coal shortages in some regions.
