From London, Tom Dixon is one of the most influential British designers in the world. He was born in Tunisia and moved to the UK when he was four years old. He studied art school. At first he never thought of being a designer, but instead took the music road. In 1982, he even recorded a good-selling album with the Funkapolitan Orchestra. Later, he wandered around the big nightclubs until he stopped his musical career because of a car accident. During his time at the nightclub, he was inspired by his design of home furnishings, and soon he founded SPACE and Eurolounge to design many classic works. His early design of the S-shaped seat and the rotating mold Jack light that won the 1998 Great Britain Design "Millennium Award" award made him famous. In 2000, he was awarded the OBE Award (British Empire Officer's Medal) for his outstanding contribution to the British design.
