Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced the launch of new surface mount white LEDs in two repackage versions -- the VLMW321xx LED and the VLMW322xx LED. To maintain a wide range of pin compatibility with similar devices, the VLMW321xx LED provides three anodes and one cathode, and the VLMW322xx LED provides three cathodes and one anode.
These devices are available today in a PLCC-4 package with an optimized leadframe that reduces thermal resistance to 300K/W and power dissipation up to 200mW, enabling the device to use up to 50mA of drive current for Vishay in PLCC-2 package Double the brightness of the SMD LED. The VLMW321xx and VLMW322xx LEDs are certified to the AEC-Q101 automotive standard for automotive applications. The device is cast with silicone for extended life.
These high-brightness LEDs can be used for traffic lights and indicators; indoor and outdoor lighting; in-vehicle and exterior lighting; household appliances, toys and game consoles, light and backlights for mobile phones; flashlights for cameras; and for retail and window displays General lighting, emergency lighting and signage, lighting in museums and showrooms.
VLMW321xx and VLMW322xx use high-efficiency InGaN technology with luminous intensity of 1400mcd to 3550mcd and luminous flux of 7000mlm to 8900mlm. The half-light intensity angle of these LEDs is 60°, the luminous intensity ratio of each packaging unit is less than 1.6, and each packaging unit is classified according to the luminous intensity and color.
These lead-free and RoHS-compliant devices are packaged in 8mm tape and reel, IR reflow, gas and wave soldering in accordance with CECC 00802 and J-STD-020, and pre-processed according to JEDEC Level 2a . These LEDs can withstand ESD voltages up to 2kV (HBM) and meet the requirements of the JESD22-A114-B standard.
The new VLMW321xx and VLMW322xx high-power LEDs are sampling now and are in volume production, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders.
